The goal of Westpac Fest is to break down the barriers among the communities in West Philly and work in solidarity with one another. For we believe that “ every person can make a unique and positive contribution to the larger society because of, rather than in spite of, their differences.
This cultural event is our way to promote an “open, friendly, and hospitable environment for immigrants and people of all backgrounds.“ a place where diversity is recognized and respected; various cultural ideas are acknowledged and valued; contributions from all groups are encouraged; people are empowered to achieve their full potential; and differences are celebrated”.
To celebrate on October 19th, 2015 the kick off of its annual “West Philly African & Caribbean Multicultural Festival (Westpac Fest)” Palms Solutions, the African Diaspora Global Initiative joined forces with the African Leaders, the United Nations Of Greater Philadelphia(UNAGP), the Friends of Clark Park (FoCP) and the Mayor’s Commission on African & Caribbean Immigrant Affairs. The successful event which featured Ethiopia and Mali, was a great success was a great opportunity to experience Philadelphia’s vibrant and growing African immigrant population.
